The 25th of Elul: Day of Creation
The days of creation are shrouded in majesty and mystery. While some of these customs may seem foreign, just as the Simanim on Rosh Hashanah seems symbolic at most, we are encouraged not only to practice them but to also believe in their power to infuse our year with many blessings. The 25th of Elul is a tremendous day. It is the day H'shem created the world. The Minhagim and Segulot that accompany this day have the potential to bring an abundance of Shefa into our lives.
It is noted that each day of the last week of the year is extremely important and can atone for every day of the year that has passed.
Customs for the Day
The Ben Ish Chai advises making this day a special day filled with Kedusha, as it says in the Sefer "Esh Yisrael." They caution not to get angry at all on this day as these days of creation are days of Chesed and Rachamim. One should refrain from speaking idle chatter and increase Tzedakah giving. One is forbidden to fast on this day, and it is suggested to eat bread, meat, sweets (sweet start), and to recite Birkat Hamazon both at night and during the day with Kavanah.
The Candle Lighting Ceremony
One should light five wax candles straight onto a glass plate, correlating to the five Lights of the Chasadim (kindness) that were revealed on this day, the five Books of the Torah, and the five times it mentions "Or" (light). The time of lighting accompanies with it the power of Chesed from Shamayim for all your requests to be answered. It is an auspicious time to ask H'shem to remove the darkness and bring in the light and to save our nation with Rachamim and Midat Hachesed.
As we observe these customs and contemplate the significance of this day, we are reminded of the power of our actions and the potential for positive change that lies within each of us. May we use this time wisely, preparing ourselves for the coming year with hope, faith, and a commitment to personal growth and tikkun olam.
Before you light say the following Pesukim:
"ויאמר אלוקים יהי אור ויהי אור",
"אלוקים השיבנו והאר פניך ונושעה"
, "אלוקים יחוננו ויברכנו יאר פניו אתנו סלה",
"קל ה' ויאר לנו אסרו חג בעבותים עד קרנות המזבח",
"כי אתה תאיר נרי ה' אלוקי יגיה חשכי"
, "כי עמך מקור חיים באורך נראה אור"
'ובית יעקב לכו ונלכה באור ה".
"יהי רצון מלפניך ה' אלוקינו ואלוקי אבותינו, שתרחם עלי (ועל אשתי/בעלי ובני ובנותי), ותעמידנו בקרן אורה, ותאיר לנו בפנים מאירות, באור פני מלך חיים, ותתן לנו זרע קודש בנים צדיקים, חכמים ונבונים בתורה. תמימים וישרים וטובים, ותרחמנו ותחיינו חיים ארוכים, חיים של שלום, חיים של טובה, חיים של ברכה, חיים של פרנסה טובה, חיים של חילוץ עצמות, חיים שיש בהם יראת חטא, חיים שאין בהם בושה וכלימה, חיים שיש בהם אהבת תורה ויראת שמים, חיים שתמלא משאלות ליבנו לטובה לעבודתך. ויהי רצון מלפניך ה' אלוקינו ואלוקי אבותינו שתקיים בנו את הברכות אשר ציווית את אהרן ואת בניו לאמור כה תברכו את בני ישראל אמור להם יברכך ה' וישמרך, יאר ה' פניו אליך ויחונך, ישא ה' פניו אליך וישם לך שלום".
Followed by saying this Posuk 10 times:
"ואמרתם כה לחי ואתה שלום וביתך שלום וכל אשר לך שלום
And then this Posuk 17 times:
"אור זרע לצדיק ולישרי לב שמחה"
Say the words "יהי אור"
Now light the first of the 5 candles and repeat יהי אור" " before lighting each of the five candles.
Then say:
אנא למען זכות דוד עבדך משיחך, אשר חלק לכל המון ישראל לאיש חלת לחם אחת ואשפר אחד, הושיענו בקריאת פרשת יום אחד, והצליחנו בקריאת פרשת יום אחד."
וכן יהי רצון , אנא למען זכות אברהם אוהבך אשר קראת אותו אחד, ולמען זכות יצחק הנעקד על הר אחד, ולמען יעקב אשר נתן ליוסף שכם אחד, ולמען משה עבדך ואהרון כהנך, וזכות יוסף צדיקך, וזכות דוד עבדך משיחך, ולמען זכות שבטי יה בני איש אחד ולמען אלקנה הנביא ויהי איש אחד, וזכות עמך ישראל, זכות השרפים, זכות נעשה ונשמע, זכות דברי חכמים, זכות מצוות המנורה, זכות מצות החושן, זכות מצות המשכן, זכות מצות התמיד, אנא למען זכות מצות זיווג איש ואישה שזכו והיו לבשר אחד הושיענו והצליחנו, ולמען יחוד שמך אשר מיחדים ישראל בכל יום תמיד "שמע ישראל ה' אלוקינו השם אחד" ולמען היום ההוא אשר יהיה השם אחד ושמו אחד הושיענו והצליחנו.

אנא, אל נא הושיעה נא והצליחה נא והרויחה נא אבינו אתה {להגיד ב' פעמים)
Now is the time to Daven and pour out your heart to H'shem with all your requests. Be specific and ask H'shem as much as you can for the coming year as well as for all of Am Yisroel, may all your Tefilot be answered immediately כן, יהי רצו
One should say the letters of the Alef Bet 27 times then say the next perek 3 times:
(תהילים פו'} וְאַתָּה אֲדֹ-י, קל-רַחוּם וְחַנּוּן; אֶרֶךְ אַפַּיִם, וְרַב-חֶסֶד וֶאֱמֶת. פְּנֵה אֵלַי, וְחָנֵּנִי: תְּנָה-עֻזְּךָ לְעַבְדֶּךָ; וְהוֹשִׁיעָה, לְבֶן-אֲמָתֶךָ.עֲשֵׂה-עִמִּי אוֹת, לְטוֹבָה:וְיִרְאוּ שֹׂנְאַי וְיֵבֹשׁוּ-- כִּי-אַתָּה ה' עֲזַרְתַּנִי וְנִחַמְתָּנִי.

You should also recite these Pesukim from Birashit:: בְּרֵאשִׁית, בָּרָא אלוקים אֵת הַשָּׁמַיִם, וְאֵת הָאָרֶץ. וְהָאָרֶץ, הָיְתָה תֹהוּ וָבֹהוּ, וְחֹשֶׁךְ, עַל-פְּנֵי תְהוֹם; וְרוּחַ אלוקים מְרַחֶפֶת עַל-פְּנֵי הַמָּיִם. וַיֹּאמֶר אלוקים יְהִי אוֹר; וַיְהִי-אוֹר. וַיַּרְא אלוקים אֶת-הָאוֹר, כִּי-טוֹב; וַיַּבְדֵּל אלוקים בֵּין הָאוֹר וּבֵין הַחֹשֶׁךְ. וַיִּקְרָא אלוקים לָאוֹר יוֹם, וְלַחֹשֶׁךְ קָרָא לָיְלָה; וַיְהִי-עֶרֶב וַיְהִי-בֹקֶר, יוֹם אֶחָד.
When you read the Pesukim that correlate to that day of Creation in the Chumash, it has a special power to fix (Tikun) for the corresponding day.
Leave the wax on the plate or, when the wax has cooled, remove it from the plate, and save the wax in a vase and put it or the waxed-filled plate on a shelf.
In the back of many Siddurim, you will find special prayers corresponding to each of the days of the week. It is suggested to recite them according to the day.
Hilula of Reb Elazar ben Reb Shimon Bar Yochai
On the 25th of Elul, we commemorate the Hilula (Yurtziet) of Reb Elazar son of Reb Shimon Bar Yochai. Light two candles for Reb Shimon and Reb Elazar, and ask that their Torah, Zechuyot, and love for all of Am Yisroel continue to light the world and bring Yeshuot.
It is said that when you learn a piece of Torah that a Tzadik wrote on his Hillula/Yurtziet, you have the ability to connect to him and have him fulfill your requests. Below is a piece of Torah from Reb Elazar:
אמרותיו
"אמר רבי אילעא משום ר' אלעזר בר' שמעון: כשם שמצוה על אדם לומר דבר הנשמע, כך מצוה על אדם שלא לומר דבר שאינו נשמע" [יבמות סה, ב].
"אמר רבי אילעא משום רבי אלעזר בר' שמעון: מותר לו לאדם לשנות בדבר השלום" - כלומר, שמותר לשקר בכדי שישמר השלום [יבמות סה, ב].
"ר' אלעזר בר' שמעון אומר: לפי שהעולם נידון אחר רובו והיחיד נידון אחר רובו, עשה מצוה אחת – אשריו, שהכריע את עצמו ואת כל העולם לכף זכות. עבר עבירה אחת - אוי לו, שהכריע את עצמו ואת כל העולם לכף חובה, שנאמר [קהלת ט, יח]: 'וחוטא אחד יאבד טובה הרבה', בשביל חטא יחידי שעשה זה - איבד ממנו ומכל העולם טובה הרבה" [קידושין מ, ב].
"רודף צדקה וחסד ימצא חיים צדקה וכבוד. אמר ר' אלעזר בר' שמעון כל מי שרודף אחרי צדקה הווין לו בנים בעלי צדקה בעלי תורה בעלי אגדה" [מדרש משלי פרשה כא].
"מאי כי חדות ה' היא מעוזכם? אמר רבי יוחנן משום רבי אליעזר ברבי שמעון: אמר להם הקדוש ברוך הוא לישראל: בני, לוו עלי וקדשו קדושת היום, והאמינו בי ואני
