We don't look back

The women we honor aren't the ones who had it easy. They're the ones who refused to give up when everything fell apart. Naomi lost her husband, her sons, her home - yet she trusted Hashem was orchestrating it all. Even in her darkest hour, her faith never wavered. That's the kind of strength that changes the world. Your story isn't over. It's just beginning.

Without That First Step: Creating Change One Choice at a Time

Without That First Step: Creating Change One Choice at a Time That little voice that says, "What's the point? You know you won't stick to it..." We all hear it. But here's what I've learned: Making the right choice TODAY isn't about forever promises. It's about doing what you know is right and good for you today. If you make the right food choices today, it nourishes you today and will make you feel good about your choices today. If you take that walk, you've chosen to do something good for yourself today. That will give you the strength to make a better choice tomorrow. When Rabbi Akiva saw the impression the water made on the rock,  what he realized was not only what consistency does over time, but that even though the first drop of water did not look like it did anything, without that first drop, even the 500th drop would ultimately have had no effect. So instead of sabotaging today's right choices because of tomorrow, realize that every r...

Tefilot Kavanot and Segulot for Lag Bomer

Lag Ba'omer Segulos by Rabbanit Yemima Mizrachi: 1. Tehillim 67 (7 times) - It's a psalm of Hod and gratitude 2. It's a day of joy and happiness (always falls out on the same day as Purim)- you cannot be sad today! 4. Ask for children "who will be exactly like Rabbi Shimon" 5. Ask for a home. 6. Chida: Light 17 candles (gematria tov/good) - from Lag Ba'omer to Shavuous there are 17 days and we ask Hashem for good days, days during which we earn receiving the Torah." 7. Rabbi Yehonasan Eybeschutz : Lag Ba'omer is when you should repent from the biggest transgression of your life, and Rabbi Shimon will intercede on your behalf in heaven. From Rav Schwartz:: There is a minhag on this day to light bonfires. We don’t just light small fires like for Shabbos and Yom Tov. We light big fires – bonfires, which are called lehavah. This shows us that we need to have a big “fire”, a lehavah, in our hearts for Hashem. If a person has this inner fire, he is connect...

Pesach Sheni and Rabbi Meir's Yahrzeit/ with Tefilah and Segulot

Tonight and Tomorrow: Pesach Sheni and Rabbi Meir's Yahrzeit Tonight and tomorrow is Pesach Sheni and the day we commemorate Rabbi Meir Baal HaNes's passing. Here are special observances to consider: Light a candle (preferably with some olive oil) for Rabbi Meir Give 18 shekels/dollars in coins to tzedakah and recite the Tefilah below Eat Matzah, preferably saved from Pesach Pesach Sheni: The Holiday of Second Chances Pesach Sheni commemorates when those who were ritually impure by choice or by chance, or distant from Jerusalem, requested another opportunity to bring the Pesach offering. H'shem honored their request. Like them, we too can request another chance to improve ourselves, make positive changes, and with H'shem's help, experience personal salvation and witness the redemption for all of Am Yisrael. The Power of Rabbi Meir Baal HaNes There are numerous reasons behind the custom of giving tzedakah, lighting an oil candle in Rabbi Meir's name, and re...
